Educational Programs: Theory and Methodology

What is Whole Brain® Thinking methodology? We all have a set of natural thinking preferences that influence the way we relate to others, solve problems and make decisions.

Ned Herrmann’s Whole Brain® Model identifies four distinct ways of thinking: analytical, emotional, structural and strategic. Understanding and appreciating our own – and others – preferred way of thinking enables improved performance in a range of educational contexts, including teaching, learning, communication, leadership and problem solving.

What is Integral Learning?

Integral Learning is an education-specific application of Whole Brain® Thinking methodology. Developed by Dr Julia Atkin, Integral Learning outlines the process through which powerful learning can occur.

Integral Learning demonstrates how learning is deepened and amplified by integrating our multiple ways of knowing, and aims to engage and integrate all modes of processing information, regardless of personal thinking style.

About Julia Atkin

Julia is an independent education and learning consultant and has over 25 years experience in researching how we learn and think, and in helping learners and teachers improve thinking, learning and teaching. She has worked with the Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument® (HBDI®) and her Integral Learning Model since 1989.
